It'll definitely be interesting to see if all that customization adds up to a pliable, evolving metagame, or if they take it too far, and buildwarsing rears its ugly head again.

From the live interview that prox posted yesterday, they stated that min-maxing wont be as effective as other games because of the fact that you have so many options on how to play each class. So a guy that tries to squeeze that 3% more on dps wont really be doing much on the battlefield cause he will be missing some survival and taking way to much cc to actually use that 3%.

Where if he had invested on some other trait, he would actually be netting more benefits from it.

I guess the fact that you have that much customization will help in creating some counter strats as in the enemy team is running a heavy damage comp, you can run a heavy cc comp to negate the ability to do damage since they are laking the traits to negate cc.

They already stated that most of the balancing of the game will be done taking into acount the e-sport arena type so i guess WvWvW maybe wont be that much balanced… But they deff want to make guildwars 2 become an e-sport with that arena tournaments so i guess we will have a balanced environment.

I think the way combat is structured will help a lot to reduce the "you need this exact build so that you're doing 1200 dps constantly" mentality.

Looking at the skills and traits, it's hard to say "yeah this will be the best no matter what". Everything seems very situational and seems to be focused around giving people tools to do the job they want to do. Of course, we'll have to wait until we can actually play to know for sure.

Some dungeon info:

-Level 50 dungeon focused on fighting the Nightmare Court with Caithe at your side.

-Trash mobs have unique elements, archers have a shot that if it isn't interrupted could get you flung into the abyss behind you

-Each boss in story mode is based on an emotion. Sariel, knight of remorse, will pick a single target and focus on them relentlessly. Graingor, knight of horror, uses fear effects on his island in the middle of a huge lake. Catiern, knight of envy, is a Mesmer that focuses on illusions.

-Explorable mode has three paths to choose from that feature more Sylvari that are rising up to fill the void that you created from killing everything in Story mode.

-There are about 10 random events that happen in a dungeon every time you run it. Which could be something like a hidden chest or a giant troll that will ambush you along a path that may have been clear last time you ran the dungeon.

-There is a room filled with plant cannons, which you'll need to figure out the pattern to get past them. If two plant cannons spot you, you're done. There are other traps similar to what we've seen elsewhere, like fire traps and landmines.

-There is a cave with a lake so large that if you ran the outside edges all the way around, it would take you five to ten minutes. Three islands in the lake which house Sariel and other mobs. The lake is huge underwater and could take up to an hour to fully explore. Random encounters/rewards in the lake, like a huge fish mini-boss that will try to eat you.

Yeah, this game has so many random elements that reward exploring. It was something I feel was missing from previous games, something we lost along the lines when rpg's became more distant from their pen and paper counterpart.

This and the skill trials that are implemented in the game, which aren't pointed out to you by any means, are some of the things that make me more excited about GW2. As if there weren't reasons enough.

If any of you start browsing the wikipedia for "How to complete dungeon x for dummies" and start walking me through, I will personally travel to your home and murder you!

Be warned!

At the end of the "Future of Online Games" panel, Jon Peters stuck around to show off and talk about GW2 a bit. One of the things he said was

"We made the game a little harder too, so get ready. It's not as easy as you think it is. I know people have said it's a little easy, but just get ready, you'll see soon enough."

Here he elaborates a bit on what he meant:
