Ign got an exclusive trailer, the article itself doesn't have anything new but the video certainly ends with a few new things.

Man, remember when this game first came out and it was the most awesome thing? I feel like it still does a lot of cool things that other MMOs don't. It was just lacking things to do at 80, so I guess this will help with that a bit. I just wish they had different PvP modes other than the capture points. I don't really like the meta with capture points.

I can agree Prox. Luckily with the expansion there will be a new PvP mode that is reminiscent of the GW1 guild vs guild pvp. Hopefully it helps in that regard. They have yet to speak on it in more detail but I'm betting it has been given a lot of attention since it addresses the point you bring up. A point that plagues many GW2 players.

Started playing again. Game still seems pretty much the same, at least in PvE, which is just grinding events. Just instead of grinding in Orr, you run around doing the different world bosses, which each seem to give at least one yellow piece of gear and some other stuff. Still, the game has held up pretty well graphically and the combat is still more fun than most tab target games.

Classes are pretty unique from each other which is really apparent after coming playing FFXIV recently where all the classes are homogenized in that they don't really have different mechanics like they do in GW2, just different skills. But it doesn't seem much has changed to the classes, pretty much the same builds are around since basically all the traits and stuff have stayed the same.

But with MMOs I'm getting to the point where I think to myself "What is the point of playing this and doing all this grinding just to get gear or whatever?" The game really has to be fun to play. The combat, the content, the world all has to be interesting, otherwise it's like, what am I even doing any of this for?

FFXIV did have some pretty cool boss fights with interesting mechanics, but after you did them a couple of times it could get boring. And aside from that, there wasn't much fun to be had. Even now, there doesn't seem to be much to do outside of raiding.

I don't know, I guess for the few months of playtime you get out of an mmo it's worth the cost. That's generally longer than you play most single player games. But I wish there was a game that stayed interesting longer than that. At this point that seems unlikely, as most MMOs these days over promise and under deliver. I think EQ next has potential, but I'm stifling my excitement until they actually show some of what they're promising. Right now we haven't seen half of what they're promising, which is concerning when the game was supposedly to be released this year.

tldr; I'm bored. Where's all the fun games?
