So you just hit level 50 and you're wondering what happens next. Read on for a detailed guide to endgame.

What Happens at 50?

If you've been doing your main story quest, you should have just finished up with the level 49 8-man instance "Cape Westwind" trial. You will now have access to the level 50 8-man instance "Castrum Maridianum". After completing CM you will gain access to the next 8-man story instance "Praetorium" where you will fight Show Spoiler
Ultima Weapon
.

After completing Praetorium, you will be offered a quest that will allow you into the "Bowl of Embers (Hard Mode)" where you will fight the hard version of Ifrit. Beating Ifrit unlocks "The Howling Eye (Hard Mode)" Garuda fight. Beating Garuda unlocks Titan (Hard Mode), and beating Titan unlocks the end dungeon "Binding Coil of Bahamut".

Gear Tiers

Armor

1. Artifact (Level 45 quest for legs, hands, feet, and head. Level 50 for body) / Grand Company level 50 greens
2. The Wanderer's Palace greens iLvl 55
3. Amdapor Keep greens
4. Crafted Materia Melded or Darklight iLvl 70 - purchased with Allagan Tomestone of Philosophy
5. Artifact 2 iLvl 90- purchased with Allagan Tomestone of Mythology
6. Allagan - drops from Coil of Bahamut

Weapons

1. Grand Company / Crafted
2. Darklight iLvl 55 - dropped from The Wanderer's Palace
3. Amdapor Keep drops
4. Ifrit Weapons iLvl 60- Obtained from doing Ifrit Hard Mode
5. Garuda and Titan weapons iLvl 70- Obtained from doing Garuda and Titan Hard Modes
6. Relic iLvl 90 - Obtained through the quest "A Relic Reborn" after completing MSQ
7. Relic+1 - costs Allagan Tomestone of Mythology
8. Allagan - drops from Coil of Bahamut

Acquiring Allagan Tombstones of Philosophy and Mythology

Tombstones are acquired by doing endgame dungeons. They can be gained from the following places:

Castrum Maridianum - 100 Allagan Tomestone of Philosophy
Praetorium - 100 Allagan Tomestone of Philosophy
The Wanderer's Palace - 35 Allagan Tomestone of Philosophy
Amdapor Keep - 80 Allagan Tomestone of Philosophy and 40 Allagan Tomestone of Mythology
Ifrit Hard mode - 4 Allagan Tomestone of Mythology
Garuda Hard mode - 7 Allagan Tomestone of Mythology
Titan Hard mode - 10 Allagan Tomestone of Mythology

What you want to do at level 50 is unlock and begin running the level 50 dungeons, especially Amdapor Keep. While Castrum and Praetorium are faster Tombstone of Philosophy farms, Amdapor Keep armor is slightly better than your Artifact gear and while collecting it you are also farming Allagan Tombstones of Philosophy and Mythology.

Allagan Tombstones of Philosophy (ATP) tokens can be exchanged for Darklight gear and Allagan Tombstones of Mythology (ATM) for Artifact+1 from NPCs in Revenant's Toll - Mor Dhona.

After Darklight
Once you have your Darklight gear (or even while still working towards a full set) you can start on your Relic weapon quest. This requires you to have completed all of the main story line and done of all the class/job quests for the specific weapon you are after.

Awesome info.

A quick thing you may want to add/clarify is that Amdapor Keep drops are a higher ilvl than Wanderer's Palace.

Also, that Wanderer's Palace final boss drops a weapon that is > your GC seal weapon due to sanction (but worse than ifrit). I do not think you can purchase a weapon with darklight.

Thanks for the info, will keep updating with accurate information. I didn't think you could purchase Dark Light weapons from vendors but I typed this up at work so I couldn't check for sure.

No problem. Am also at work so just lurking around on FFXIV forums and our site.

Just a sidenote for peoples, as far as item level goes… (ilvl being the amount of stats allocated to an item)

Due to the major impact of STR/DEX/VIT for all classes AFAIK, ilvl > all when selecting gear).

To supplement the ilvls to Proxi's post.

Wanderer Palace –- ilvl 55
Amdapor Keep and Ifrit –- ilvl 60
Darklight and Garuda/Titan –- ilvl 70
AF2/Relic –- ilvl 90
Bahamuts –- ilvl?

Take note there is a large jump between Darklight and AF2. As Solestas pointed out, AF2 >> Darklight > Dungeon gear. I was makin a spreadsheet and it looks to be ~25% increase in main stats between Amdapor and Darklight and then a 45% increase between Darklight and AF2. With a whopping 80% between dungeon straight to AF2!!

Something to note for tanks when purchasing AF2/Darklight. An AF2 piece + A dungeon piece is greater in stats than a darklight piece (this goes for body and pants due to the things taking up two slots). For example, AF2 body + Hoplite Helm is > Heavy Darklight Armor.

One Amdapor run a night is enough to hit your weekly cap on Tomes of Mythology, although running multiple times will load you up with Darklight gear pretty damn fast!

I'm pretty disapointed there arent more ways to gear up, I was expecting some more dungeons but it looks like its esentially running the same old 1 or 2 dungeons to work your way up the primals.

iLvl70 Crafted gear with multi melded materia might fill in that gap a bit.

We will have to run different dungeons for our relic weapons though.

100% agree here.

It surprised me that there was so little level 50 instance content. Granted the instances are VERY awesome and well designed, including the primals. But Yoshi spoke a lot about the endgame content, I would have liked to see more 4-mans. Or if they added hard-modes of the story 8-mans.

And I think they kind of messed up making amdapor > wanderer's palace. Albeit wanderer's is easier.

Amdapor drops every single slot except weapon AND more efficient tomes. So there isn't much need to do wanderer's if you have weapon or Ifrit's.

I would have loved to see all the lvl 50 instances drop the same level stuff, but different slots, and equalish tomes. This way you are running many different ones, and not the same one over and over.
