Create Your Character

For those that haven't done so already, SE released a Character Creation Benchmark that allows you to create characters and import them into the game when servers come up. If you like you can also post your created characters here: http://apex.guildwork.com/forum/threads/51ff0849c16e4d56a21fddfc-ffxiv-post-your-created-characters

Customize Your UI

Though not official, there is a very nice HUD simulator here http://ffxiv.game-junkie.net/HUD/ that let's you create custom UIs with all the features that will be available in the game. You can post your created UIs here: http://apex.guildwork.com/forum/threads/51e2d707c16e4d673c044579-post-your-ui-setup

Download the Client

The phase 4/launch client installation is available for download here http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/inst/ffxivsetup.exe . You won't be able to patch until Aug. 15th though.

Register Your Pre-order Code

For those that have preodered, on Aug. 20th you will be able to register your preorder codes here: https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/ffxivearlypre?rgn=eu&lng=en

Familiarize Yourself With the Site

Our website has a lot of built-in functionality that we will be using a lot of during our time in FFXIV. Features are as follows:

Photo album : You can post screenshots from the game here.
Schedule/Calendar : We will be posting all of our events here.
Roster : This page will automatically update with members of the FC including all of their levels. Clicking on their names will give you more in-depth information about that character.
Raid Tracker : Here we will track all of our raids including attendees and loot drops.
Bank Tracker : We will use this to log all transactions that occur with the FC bank.

Polls

Which class will you play?
Which race will you play?
Which Grand Company should the FC represent?

If you ordered from Amazon, they wont send you the code until the 20th. There might be something similar if you ordered from somewhere else.

leechef - The "https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/ffxivearlypre?rgn=eu&lng=en
" website says and I quote

"The pre-order code for the Windows version is a 20-character alphanumeric code. This code is distributed by retailers at shopfronts or via e-mail after reserving a copy of the game"

That is not the same thing.

I got my e-mail from amazon as soon as I ordered it, I removed the code but it was like the following:

Thank you for purchasing from Amazon.com.
Your recent order blah-blah-blah entitles you to a promotional code.
Your promotional code: AAAA-111-AAAAAA-111
Promotion details:
The Amazon Video Games team thanks you for purchasing “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.” Your purchase has qualified you for early access to the game.

Visit http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com and register. You will be notified via email prior to the launch of the game on when you can return and redeem your preorder code (code listed above) to unlock Early Access to the game along with instructions on how to receive your Cait Sith Doll minion and Moogle Cap digital content.

Although this isn't the code I need for early release, it did get me entered into SE's mailing list so I'm just waiting for them to e-mail the final code now, which as mentioned, will probably be on the 20th.

From what I've heard from people, SE store is different. Other retailers give you a code that gets you on SE's emailing list like the amazon e-mail I got above. If you buy it from SE direct, then I'm sure you are already in their emailing list, so you should get your code as they send them out on the 20th.

The NA codes are only 18 digits long and we won't be able to enter them until the 20th.
