There are numerous ways to get max level stat exotic gear in GW2 so I will go over the most common ways here.
Karma Vendors
In the end game Orr zones, there are named Cathedral areas. In each of these areas there are karma vendors that sell level 80 exotic gear for 42,000 karma a piece. All of the gear is the same appearance-wise between the vendors, but the stats will be different.
In the WvW starting areas there are merchants that will trade you level 80 exotic gear in exchange for the Badges of Honor that you have acquired. You can obtain badges the following ways:
*0-2 from Bags of Loot dropped by players in WvW *3-6 from opening the Mistwrought Chest at the end of the Jumping Puzzle in the *Borderlands maps *2-8 from the chest after killing the Overgrown Grub in the Eternal Battlegrounds *2-8 from the chest after killing the Arboreal Spirit in the Eternal Battlegrounds *2-20 (scales with level) from opening the chest at the end of the Jumping Puzzle in the Eternal Battlegrounds
Level 400 crafters can craft level 80 exotic gear for their respective craft. Each piece requires 5 Ectoplasms and a number of various end game mats. To see the mats you would need for each piece, you can check here: http://www.gw2db.com/recipes
For each dungeon you complete on explorable mode, you will get tokens which you can trade in for armor. Each dungeon has it's own specific tokens, merchants, and gear.
I'm leaving out Legendary weapons for now as they're a long and/or expensive process. I will write a separate guide for those later on. This all lists how to acquire gear, but how you gear is up to you. Your build and playstyle should determine how you gear yourself stat-wise.
