So I did my first AC last night and had fun doing it, but at the same time I'm not sure if I did it correctly. What I mean is that since I have the ability to heal I assumed the role of "healer," in quotes because you know how it goes. Anyhow I ran with a staff cause I figured it had the best healing options. The thing is we know water has terrible dps, but I was scared to "stance dance" to fire or earth cause I didn't want to be locked out of water in case I had to throw a heal. The other concern I had was about if we even needed a person healing. Between dodging, rezzing, and grave zerging (which I noticed was easy to do cause you are not locked out of the room during a fight like in WoW) is it even that necessary to have a healer. I have an aoe option for my 6 and can drop both lesser and greater ice elementals which have some healing ability - you think that would be enough?
In any case, what's your opinion on the matter and if you think playing dedicated healing is needed, what would you use as a spec? I would post one, but am on my phone at the moment.
Imo its more important to run a all-around build then a certain role. The thing on the dungeons is that you gotta be able to handle yourself fine when the boss/minion locks on you. You can't expect someone else to save you everysingle time like a tank would do in others MMO's.
Support in this game really covers a broad spectrum. Support can be things like CC, condition removal, buffs, heals, things like that. You can spec a character to incorporate these types of things, but like Rickz said you should still be able to do decent damage for full effectiveness.
