This is just an observation. I am not trying to shake things up. Just wondering if anyone knew the pros and cons of using Mumble instead of Ventrillo. I have used Teamspeak (ffxi), Ventrillo (wow), and Mumble (ffxiv) and i have to tell you i think mumble was the coolist of the the 3. In mumble you could see the avitars of the peopl,e talking directly IN GAME. There was no need to run in window mode for large raids. If you have anything to say about this id love to hear it =)
It does seem to have some cool features, but I don't think everyone is ready to make the jump quite yet. We have a lot of old ApeX members that might not be playing the same game we are at any point or whatever and sometimes they like to pop on vent every now and then to say hi or whatever.
Aye that makes sense! But play with it a bit. You will love it! Your little avatar from Guild Works shows up in the game on the side of the screen. It gets brighter when your talking. So for me its my little Cactuar guy sayin :o
I liked mumble a lot from the short time I used it, but like Proxy said, there isn't a HUGE incentive in changing right now. The avatar thingy is nice, but at some point you get used to people's voices (or mic noises in some cases).
EDIT: I also think the default codec used in mumble makes voices a lot clearer, but I'm sure that's configurable on Vent too. Probably ends up consuming a higher bandwidth.
We can try it sometime maybe or not. If we put a big notice up for mumble info all old guildies will be able to locate us. But like i said no big deal. Someone give me the vent info so i can get on and meet you guys tonight. Im leaving work now
