Download the latest version. You'll see on the bottom it says "Choose settings:" You'll want to select optimal and click Apply changes. It will tell you to reboot.
After reboot open TCP Optimizer again and this time click on the "Advanced Settings" tab at the top. Now you'll want to look at the bottom again next to "Choose Settings:" and this time you'll want to select "Custom". Now you want to go under "Gaming Tweak" and for TcpAckFrequency and TCPNoDelay select 1. Apply changes and reboot again.
Note that this is not guaranteed to lower your ping and is only said to work for some games (mainly MMOs). For me personally I do notice a difference in ping times though.
Same thing happened to me not too long ago. Had the guy come out, turns out it was a problem with noise in the main line. Might not be the same issue, but it's worth having them come out to check it out.
I used to ping about 80 to vent, and now its up to 160, and all pingtests I run, i am averaging 120ms where I would probably normally get about 40. So i've magically gotten 80ping to my connection starting at 6pm pst last night…
My download and upload speeds are still fine, and i have no packet loss. When I called them earlier, they are like, as long as your upload and download are normal we can't really do anything for your ping since your internet performance isn't affected…..
so now i guess I just hope this thing magically goes away or I have to switch isp wtf
Here in brazil i had some issues like that. What fixed for me was getting the tracert and sending it to the Ombudsman of the company, along with the explanation. It turned out to be a particular central that was overloaded and they created a project to expand it. Even gave me the timeline for the project.
Not sure if comcast would act the same way but it´s worth a try…
If it does not work all i can say is: Welcome to brazil ziddy :P
