chocobo ?s for those who played phase 3 (or prev)

So about how far is a chocobo from the ifrit quest? Is it a main story line quest or a side quest you unlock along the way? And last but not least, once obtained, your other classes can ride it at lvl 1?

Just wondering how long it is until I get my chocobo so I can change classes since I'm already at the ifrit fight and I'm really bored and have nothing else to think about for the next 54 minutes.

Its really close… after ifrit you get to chose a Grand Company and then you procede to farm the seals and buy your chocobo license.

Main story quest not to far after ifrit quest. gotta go to each main city then pick the city you wish to be your first grand company(you can change it later on so doesnt matter). then gotta farm 1000 seals to purchase the item to trade to a choco vendor to get the whistle. easiest way to do this seemed to be farming FATEs in p3. and yes it can be used by any lvl character

Thanks, it's 2000 seals now though. grinding seals in fates took a couple hours for it but wasn't too bad.

Grand Company hunting log and Grand Company leves. They also have some supply missions you can do with crafting and gathering classes.
