Apparently this was posted on the forums during the last beta weekend. I've heard this being hinted at a while ago, but I think this is the first actual confirmation.

So what I gather from this is that it will be like FPS games where you can rent your own private server for a monthly fee and adjust the rules to your liking. Possibly we may be able to password protect, set map rotation, player cap, etc.

That would be cool to run pratices and scrims against other teams.

At first I thought this was new and was disapointed.
Curious how'd they make this happen, but I'd be okay with paying monthly fees to own a low pinging server as well. It's how we did it on the old CS 1.6 days.

This might hint at some of the options we would be able to set:

Map rotation, time limit, score limit.

I think they will make it cost gold ( a shitload ) and at the same time put it in the gem store… That way the ones who grind for money can get a server for x amount of time and the ones that doesnt have the time/want to grind just go ahead and buy it.

Did you notice the servers with 20 people cap?

Yeah, sounds horrible. 8v8 is already far too many. The new map seems pretty big though, so maybe wouldn't be as bad on that one. Still though, it's bordering on zerg territory.

In Guild Wars 1, on GvG matches, most teams would split to take objective (some would hold the buffs, others would assault the castle). If it is indeed the case of a big map, maybe that's what they're going for.

But like you said, In the present maps, it wold be a zergfest.
